Rameau: Zoroastre
Rameau: Zoroastre

Anders J. Dahlin (Zoroastre); Sine Bundgaard (Amélite); Anna Maria Panzarella (Erinice); Ditte Andersen (Céphie); Evgueniy Alexiev (Abramane); Gerard Théruel (Oromasès/Ariman)

Making full use of Drottningholm Theatre’s unique 17th century Baroque theatre machinery, as well as his deep creative understanding of the profound drama of the work, stage director Pierre Audi creates a production of Zoroastre that completely accords with the spirit of Rameau. True to the form of the tragédie lyrique, choreographer Amir Hosseinpour’s dances perfectly match the weight and meaning of both plot and music.
The ensemble, Les Talens Lyriques, reinforced with musicians from the Drottningholm Court Theatre Orchestra and Chorus, is expertly and passionately led into the musical stratosphere by musical director Christophe Rousset. This intensely dramatic production is captured live in vibrant High Definition video and true surround sound.

"After so many opera productions updated to modern dress, it is refreshing to have a thoroughly traditional production, set in the beautifully restored Drottingholm Court Theatre...Casting in this production is first rate, with clean, firm voices the rule and with the dances, so important in Rameau operas, perfectly integrated. Christophe Rousset is the stylish conductor. A first-class set in every way." (The Penguin Guide)

"…an extraordinary opera by Jean-Philippe Rameau … one felt oneself trapped in a beam of harmonious vibrations." (Le Monde)

"Christophe Rousset and his forces deliver an excellently paced reading and much of the singing is perfectly judged. " (BBC Music Magazine)
